Honoring The Elderly Of Community

In Perú, on August 26th each year it is commemorated Senior's Day. One especial day to celebrate, honor and pay tribute to the elderly of the country who, through their lifetime experiences turned into wisdom, can contibute to our society. I would like expressing my deepest grattitude to Chimbote Rotary Club at inviting me to run a Psychological Workshop for seniors coming from different communities of Chimbote who got together at the club facilities.

Under the motto "old-age: sum of experience and youths" and by playing games, dancing, sharing ideas, etc. attendees learnt to get integrated, value this stage of life and overcome some prejudices about it. Heartfelt thanks to my collegues Lili Cielo, Shirley García and Kiara Diaz for being a part of the team.

Honrando a los Adultos Mayores de la Comunidad

En Perú, el 26 de agosto de cada año se conmemora el Día del Adulto Mayor en el cual se celebra, honra y rinde homenaje a los ancianos del país quienes, a través de su experiencia de vida convertida en sabiduría, pueden contribuir a nuestra sociedad. Expreso mi profunda gratitud al Club Rotary de Chimbote al invitarme a dirigir un Taller Psicológico a las personas de la tercera edad provenientes de diferentes comunidades de Chimbote quienes se reunieron en las instalaciones del club para tal efecto.

Bajo el lema "Vejez: Suma de Experiencia y Juventudes" y por medio de juegos, baile, lluvia de ideas, etc. los asistentes aprendieron a integrarse, valorar esta etapa de la vida y superar algunos prejuicios al respecto. Mi más sincero agradecimiento a mis colegas Lili Cielo, Shirley García y Kiara Díaz por ser parte del equipo.

Educational Tour Inside Medicine School Of San Pedro University For Children, Teens And Young People That Will Attend Medical Campaign On September 26-29, 2017

We are only a few days away for 2017 medical campaign to start and, as in previous years, we anticipate provide medical care and other health services to a big number of people. After making coordinations with the dean of Medicine School, Dr. Elizabeth Llerena, and the director of San Luis Polyclinic of San Pedro University, Dr. Elmer Quezada, we were authorized so that children, young and adult people that will attend campaign can make a guided educational tour to the different laboratories of the medical school in order to they can learn more about nature of our body by seeing human tissues and organs and listening to explanations.

On the other hand, they can also visit the farmland of the university where agronomic engineering students cultivate some vegetables and fruits.

Tour Educativo en las Instalaciones de la Facultad de Medicina Humana de la Universidad San Pedro para Niños, Adolescentes y Jóvenes que Asistirán a la Campaña Médica del 26 al 29 de Setiembre del 2017

Estamos a sólo unos días para el inicio de la campaña médica en la cual anticipamos brindar atención médica y otros servicios de salud a un gran número de personas como en los años anteriores. Después de hacer coordinado con la decana de la Facultad de Medicina, Dra. Elizabeth Llerena, y el director del Policlínico San Luis de la Universidad San Pedro, Dr. Elmer Quezada, fuimos autorizados para que niños y jóvenes y adultos que acudan a la campaña puedan hacer un recorrido educativo guiado a los diferentes laboratorios de la facultad de medicina con el fin de aprender más sobre la naturaleza de nuestro cuerpo viendo tejidos y órganos humanos y escuchando las explicaciones.

Así mismo, también pueden visitar el campo de cultivo de la universidad donde los estudiantes de ingeniería agronoma cultivan verduras y frutas. (Anterior y Siguiente día)

"San Luis" Polyclinic, The Place For Nuevo Chimbote-Perú Medical Campaign. Sep-2017

THE SAN LUIS Scholastic Polyclinic was created on May 5, 2005 and is part of the Medicine School of the San Pedro University of Chimbote, private organization. It is located at the Medicine School facilities in Pacífico Av., 2nd stage, San Luis Human Settlement, Nuevo Chimbote. Some of its goals are: offer affordable medical care to surrounding communities, train medicine students, prevent diseases, provide free medical care to the homeless, among others. It offers the following services:

• Family Medicine.
• Gynecology-Obstetrics.
• Odontology.
• Nursing.
• Psychology.
• Physical Therapy.
• Laboratory.
• Pharmacy.
• Elder's program.
• Teen's program.

The Regional Ancash Health Direction (DIRESA - ANCASH) in coordination with the Regional Government of Ancash y the corresponding Health Network, have together established the jurisdiction of the polyclinic in order to execute National Health Strategies of the Health ministry of Perú (MINSA).

The following communities -human settlements- make up the scope of the polyclinic (most of them started as invasions, and some of them still remain as such):

21. Las Américas,... and all those human settlements that will be formed in the future and located near polyclinic. (It is appropriate to emphasize there are communities that are out of the scope of the polyclinic, which also need medical care).

Here is the list of the prevalent diseases in these communities:

• Acute Respiratory Infections.
• Dental Caries.
• Acute Diarrheal Diseases.
• Urinary Tract Infection.
• Musculoskeletal Diseases.
• Skin Diseases (fungus, etc).
• Chronic Degenerative Diseases.
• Behavior Disorder.
• Intestinal Parasites.
• Chronic Malnutrition.
• Ocular Inflammation.
• Visual Deficiency.

A mission team of Marietta First United Methodist Church (MFUMC) from Georgia-USA will come to the city to provide, together with local medical professionals, medical care in this institution on September 26-29. The Polyclinic director Dr. Elmer Quezada and health professionals working there will participate in this initiative.

Policlínico "San Luis", Lugar De La Campaña Médica en Nvo. Chimbote Perú. Set-2017

EL POLICLÍNICO DOCENTE SAN LUIS fue creado el 5 de mayo del 2005 y es parte de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad San Pedro (USP) de Chimbote, de gestión privada. Está ubicado en las instalaciones de la propia Facultad en la prolongación Av. Pacífico, AA.HH. San Luis II etapa, Nuevo Chimbote. Algunos de sus objetivos son: Ofrecer servicio médico económico a las comunidades de los alrededores, capacitar a los estudiantes de medicina, prevenir enfermedades, brindar atención médica gratuita a los indigentes, entre otros. Ofrece los siguientes servicios:

• Medicina General.
• Gineco-Obstetricia.
• Odontología.
• Enfermería.
• Psicología.
• Physical Therapy.
• Laboratorio Clínico.
• Farmacia.
• Programa del Adulto Mayor.
• Programa del Adolescente.

La Dirección Regional de Salud Ancash (DIRESA - ANCASH) en coordinación con el Gobierno Regional de Ancash y la correspondiente Red de Salud, juntos han establecido la jurisdicción del policlínico a fin de ejecutar las Estrategias Sanitarias Nacionales del Ministerio de Salud (MINSA).

Las siguientes comunidades -asentamientos humanos- forman la jurisdicción del policlínico (la mayoría empezaron como invasiones, y algunas de ellas aún permanecen como tal):

Un equipo misionero de la Primera Iglesia Metodista Unida de Marietta (MFUMC) de Georgia-USA visitará nuestra ciudad para proveer, junto con profesionales de la salud locales, atención médica gratuita en esta institución los días del 26 al 29 de setiembre. El director del policlínico Dr. Elmer Quezada y los profesionales de salud que laboran allí participarán en esta iniciativa.

Medical Care On The Outskirts Of Town. Fourth Day. Sep-2016

This was the last day serving communities by providing medical, dental, visual, hearing care for free. People from Perú, United States of America and Republic of Georgia in Europe got together to make possible this great medical project. As a result, we received expressions of deep gratitude from the people whom we served throughout these 4 days. We thank God, the creator. Likewise, on behalf of ABCD CHIMBOTE, we express our heartfelt gratefulness to Marietta First United Methodist Church (MFUMC) from Georgia-USA for supporting this iniciative and sending a great mission team.

We thank you in a very special way to pastor Raul Meza for allowing us to use NUEVA VIDA Christian and Missionary Association's facilities. Also, our sincere gratitude to Chimbote and Nuevo Chimbote Municipality, Chimbote ROTARY Club, San Luis Polyclinic, volunteers and everyone who joined us in serving our neighbor.

Atención Médica en las Afueras de la Ciudad. Cuarto Día. Set-2016

Este fue el último día sirviendo a la población brindando gratuitamente atención médica, dental, visual y auditiva. Personal de Perú, Estados Unidos de América y la República de Georgia en Europa se unieron para hacer realidad este gran proyecto médico. Como resultado, recibimos muestras de profundo agradecimiento de las personas a quienes servimos durante estos 4 días. Damos gracias a Dios, el creador. Asimismo, a nombre de ABCD CHIMBOTE, expresamos nuestro sincero agradecimiento a Marietta First United Methodist Church (MFUMC) de Goergia-USA por apoyar esta iniciativa y enviar un gran equipo de misiones.

Agradecemos de manera muy especial al pastor Raúl Meza por permitirnos usar las instalaciones de la Asociación Cristiana y Misionera NUEVA VIDA. Medical Care On The Outskirts Of Town. Third Day. Sep-2016

On this third day, people of all ages from different surrounding communities continued to come down to the site of the medical campaign seeking relieve and get better their health. On the other side, after being attended by pediatricians, tittle ones spent a nice time by singind, dancing, playing, etc. and receiving presents in the show for children hosted by sister Loyda Valverde and her crew.

We thank you sister Loyda for her participation in this community service activity and also one of the Nuevo Chimbote town councilwoman Beatriz Madrid.

Atención Médica en las Afueras de la Ciudad. Tercer Día. Set-2016

En este tercer día, personas de todas las edades de las diferentes comunidades circundantes siguieron llegando al lugar de la campaña médica buscando aliviar y mejorar su salud. Por otro lado, después de ser atendidos por los pediatras, los pequeños pasaron un tiempo agradable cantando, bailando, jugando, etc. y recibiendo regalos en el show para niños dirigido por la hermana Loyda Valverde y staff.

Nuestra gratitud a la hna. Loyda por su participación en esta actividad de apoyo comunitario así como también a la regidora de la Municipalidad de Nuevo Chimbote Beatriz Madrid. (Anterior y Siguiente día)

Medical Care On The Outskirts Of Town. Second Day. Sep-2016

On the second day of the medical campaign, Americans and Peruvians health professionals continued to serve people seeking medical attention. Some of them came from remote communities and others from rural areas in the Highland of the country. Due to the big attendance and to make sure to be attended, patients arrived in the outside of the compound at the dawn, some even spent the night there making a line.

We thank you Dr. Elmer Quezada for getting his obstetrics students involved in this initiative. Our gratitude also to Chimbote ROTARY Club youth, led by Mrs. María Julia, who served in area of ear washing and registration of patients who needed hearing aids.

Atención Médica en las Afueras de la Ciudad. Segundo Día. Set-2016

En el segundo día de la campaña médica, los profesionales de salud norteamericanos y peruanos continuaron atendiendo a las personas que buscaban atención médica. Algunas de ellas procedían de comunidades lejanas y otras de zonas rurales de la sierra del país. Debido a la gran concurrencia y con el fin de asegurar oportunidad de ser atendidos, los pacientes llegaron al exterior del recinto al amanecer, algunos incluso pasaron la noche haciendo cola.

Agradecemos al Dr. Elmer Quezada por involucrar a sus estudiantes de obstetricia en esta iniciativa. Nuestro agradecimiento también a los jóvenes del Club ROTARY de Chimbote, dirigidos por la señora María Julia, quienes sirvieron en el área de lavado de oídos y registro de aquellos pacientes que necesitaban audífonos. Medical Care On The Outskirts Of Town. First Day. Sep-2016

It is encouraging to see how people from different backgrounds and cultures can get together to achieve a common goal: serve those in need. There is no distance nor language barrier preventing from making a difference in people's life. That's exactly what just happened. One more time, Peruvians, Americans (MFUMC members)and an European friend, came together to provide medical attention and donate medicine to the population living in humble communities at the outskirts of Nuevo Chimbote town.

A big number of people seeking medical care were attended this first day. ABCD CHIMBOTE highlights the priceless help of local institutions such as Chimbote and Nuevo Chimbote Municipality, Chimbote ROTARY Club, San Luis Polyclinic and volunteers that joined us. Special thanks to pastor Raul Meza for allowing us to use New Life Association's facilities.

Atención Médica en las Afueras de la Ciudad. Primer Día. Set-2016

Es alentador ver cómo personas de diferentes trasfondos y culturas pueden unirse para lograr un objetivo común: servir a los menos favorecidos. No hay distancia ni barrera idiomática que impida hacer la diferencia en la vida de las personas. Eso es exactamente lo que acaba de suceder. Una vez más, peruanos, norteamericanos (miembros de MFUMC) y un amigo europeo, se unieron para brindar atención médica gratuita y donar medicamentos a pobladores de comunidades humildes de las afueras de la ciudad de Nuevo Chimbote.

Un gran número de personas que buscaban atención médica concurrieron este primer día. ABCD CHIMBOTE destaca el invaluable apoyo de instituciones locales como la Municipalidad de Chimbote y Nuevo Chimbote, Chimbote ROTARY Club, Policlínico San Luis y voluntarios que se unieron a nosotros.
