Rains And Floods in Nuevo Chimbote Left More Than 175 Thousand People Affected

About 175 thousand people out of the 148 communities making up Nuevo Chimbote city were affected by intense rains recorded on Tuesday March 14 due to the nature phenomenon called "the Coastal Child."

On the other hand and as foreseen, the most affected ones turned out to be those neighborhoods bordering the Lacramarca river such as Villa Maria, Tres de Octubre and Primero de Mayo where around 20 thousand people live.

Houses and educational institutions of the area were flooded and companies were seriously damaged. Locals are still asking for help because they have lost valuables, clothing, no access to clean water and hundreds of people have nowhere to sleep.

Lluvias e Inundaciones en Nuevo Chimbote Dejarorn Más de 175 Mil Afectados

Unas 175 mil personas de las 148 comunidades que componen la ciudad de Nuevo Chimbote resultaron afectadas por las intensas lluvias registradas el martes 14 de marzo debido al fenómeno de la naturaleza denominado "El Niño Costero".

Por otro lado y como fue previsto, los más afectados resultaron ser aquellos barrios cerca al río Lacramarca como Villa María, Tres de Octubre y Primero de Mayo donde viven unas 20 mil personas.

Las casas y las instituciones educativas del área fueron inundadas y las compañías fueron seriamente dañadas. Los locales todavía están pidiendo ayuda porque han perdido objetos de valor, ropa, no tienen acceso al agua potable y cientos de personas no tienen donde dormir.
