Pollution by Factories: Fishing Factories

Chimbote city is well known for being a dedicated port for the "Fishing Industry." You can find here many factories of fishmeal and fish oil. Most of them are outdated factories, are located on southern Chimbote, and cover a third of the bay. It is one of the main economic activities that generates a major income for the city. These factories are the main source of pollution in Chimbote as well.

Unfortunately, the production process includes the emission of toxic smoke into the air. Now as we know, this smoke contains harmful substances for people health and causes various respiratory deseases such as: Asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, etc as well as eye infections, skin infections, etc. In adittion, residents of the neighborhoods located near these factories, such as: La Florida, Miramar, El Trapecio, 27 de octubre, among others, have to bear the unpleasant smell of smoke as well.
